AFLAC comes in at 120 among U.S. companies in BusinessWeek magazine's Global 1000 listing of the "world's most valuable companies." The listing appears in the magazine's July 14 issue. This is the fifth year in a row that AFLAC has been on the list, last year AFLAC was ranked 131.
"We are certainly pleased with our ranking in BusinessWeek's Global 1000. Each year our goal is to continue to build our business by focusing on achieving our earnings objectives and maximizing shareholder value," said Daniel P. Amos, AFLAC Incorporated chairman and chief executive officer. "This recognition that we have not lost sight of our goals is reflected in our receiving an even higher ranking than we did in 2002."
The Business Week Global 1000 ranked companies in 23 countries by market capitalization as of May 30. The data for the listing is compiled by Morgan Stanley Capital International, Inc., in Geneva, and includes share price and annual change, price/book value ratio, price/earnings ratio, yield, sales, profits, and return on equity.
AFLAC Incorporated is an international holding company. A Fortune 500 company, AFLAC insures more than 40 million people worldwide. It is a leading writer of insurance marketed at the worksite, offering policies to employees at more than 258,800 payroll accounts in the United States.
