Not one, not two, but six magazines have named Principal Financial Group as one of the best places to work.
Working Mother Magazine included this nation’s premier provider of employee benefits on its list of “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers”, for the third time. Principal was previously so applauded in 1998 and 2001. More than 70% of their work force are women. The magazine praises the company’s flexible culture, solid leave policy for new mothers and its new Working Caregiver Leave program. The latter allows employees to return to work on a part time basis while retaining full benefits.
Latina Style 50 evaluated each company based on issues identified by the magazine’s readers as most important to them in the workplace. Focus on such areas as mentoring programs, educational opportunities, benefits, and number of Latina and Latino executives on the company’s Board of Directors were responsible for their selection. Principal has been included on this list for each of the six years it has been compiled by the magazine.
The company is even being recognized as one of the top 25 places to work in Chile. Principal Vida Chile, had been so honored by Capital Magazine, Chile’s equivalent to Fortune magazine in the United States.
Other honors include Principal being named by the Information Week 500, due to its pattern of organizational and technological innovation for the fourth straight year. AARP has recognized Principal for its laudable efforts to employ persons aged 50 and over.
Having just been included on Fortune magazines “Fortune 100 Best Places to Work”, Principal Financial Group is the only Iowa based company to make any of these lists.
