Whether they prefer to use a computer or their cell phone, consumers can have access to their personal medical information wherever they are, 24/7, thanks to two new services from CapMed.
CapMed, a division of Bio-Imaging Technologies, has launched onlinePHR™ (Online Personal Health Record), a subscription-based service that lets consumers manage their personal records through any device with an Internet connection. Their records are protected by a secure ID and password.
With onlinePHR, consumers can receive email alerts to remind them to seek preventive care, check drug interactions, complete risk assessments, generate common medical forms, import data from remote health care monitoring devices, and transfer their medical information to multiple physician practices. They also can authorize providers, family members, and caregivers to view all or some of the data within the online record.
“CapMed’s onlinePHR offers consumers an easy-to use, secure, and accessible solution for becoming more active partners in their health and wellness,” said Wendy Angst, general manager of CapMed. “onlinePHR brings another level of convenience and anywhere, anytime access for consumers who want to be able to manage their personal health records and the records of their families.”
Consumers can purchase onlinePHR through CapMed’s Web site or the Microsoft HealthVault Web site. A subscription costs $19.95 per year for up to 10 family members.
In addition to onlinePHR, CapMed offers consumers multiple options for storing personal health information, including its Personal HealthKey™, a portable thumb drive on a key chain; desktopPHR™, a CD-ROM application; and the new icePHR™ which stores emergency health information online.
CapMed also has just released icePHR Mobile, an in case of emergency personal health record technology that gives consumers access to medical information—such as emergency contacts, known allergies, and immunization records—for themselves and up to 10 family members through their cell phones.
“icePHR Mobile provides a practical, easy way for everyone to have critical health information available when and where it’s needed,” Angst said. “icePHR Mobile gives consumers the peace of mind of knowing that their emergency medical information is available at anytime and in every possible location.”
icePHR Mobile works with most major cell phone brands; integration with Apple’s new iPhone® is in development. Consumers can purchase icePHR Mobile for $2.95 per year, per family as an extension to icePHR Online or onlinePHR products.
