By teaming with Quotit Corporation, WellPoint Inc., is striving to better serve America’s seniors with cost-saving quotes on Medicare health plans.
The Indianapolis-based WellPoint, an independent licensee of the BlueCross and Blue Shield Association, already had a working relationship with Quotit. Now, through this new venture, WellPoint will make available to agents of all its affiliated health plans proprietary software from Quotit. With the software, agents can help seniors find the most competitive rates for their Medicare and Medicare Advantage health insurance needs.
More than 2.5 million senior and disabled Americans use WellPoint affiliated health plans for their Medicare and drug benefits. Because of America’s growing senior population, more and more consumers may choose WellPoint plans as the means by which they receive health coverage during their golden years. According to McKinsey and Company, people turning 60 have a 50 percent chance that their spouse will live to 90.
“We are committed to educating consumers about our plans and their benefits so they can make informed choices when electing benefit coverage,” said John Rudy, senior business development consultant for WellPoint. He added that through the strengthened alliance with Quotit, WellPoint agents can continue that level of service and commitment.
As one would expect, Quotit sees the technological benefits that agents will realize through its alliance with WellPoint.
“As digital technologies continue to drive the health care industry, the great opportunity inherent in the use of our integrated ‘Enterprise Solutions’ will prove increasingly valuable,” said Mark Seghers, senior vice president of business development at Quotit.
Quotit maintains an online insurance database with benefit design and plan pricing for thousands of health insurance and employee benefit plans. Now, using Quotit, WellPoint-affiliated health plan agents can provide their clients with side-by-side plan comparisons, helping seniors make an informed choice for their specific needs.
