In their previous jobs as insurance brokers, Lisa Zanotelli and Derek Rogers stood alone in their field-that of kidnap and ransom insurance.
The two are now bringing their unique expertise to Bermuda-based Hiscox Group, a specialty insurance carrier that recently launched a kidnap and ransom (K&R) product in the United States.
Zanotelli and Rogers have joined Hiscox USA to develop and underwrite standalone K&R insurance coverage. This will be written on an admitted basis through Hiscox USA's two New York locations.
Ed Donnelly, president of Hiscox USA, said the new K&R coverage "reflects the continued investment we're making to provide our clients specialized insurance with premiere industry intelligence and service."
Together, Zanotelli and Rogers have almost 30 years of experience in K&R insurance and other security related concerns. Both came from Willis' Special Contingency Risks Practice, where Zanotelli was the executive vice president and Rogers was senior vice president. In these roles, they were the only insurance brokers focused solely on K&R insurance in North America.
Before joining Willis, they both worked for AIG. Zanotelli led operations for the carrier's Crisis Management Division in North America for security-related products, such as K&R, Product Tampering, Work Place Violence, and Terrorism. Rogers was the underwriting manager for the U.S. Northeast region and Canada for the same division.
Zanotelli and Rogers liked what they saw of Hiscox when they sold coverage.
"Our clients deal with a very difficult global security environment, coupled with employers' duty of care that includes personnel security and effective crisis management," Rogers explained. "When we were brokers, Hiscox consistently demonstrated the knowledge and flexibility we needed to offer effective coverage to our clients."
Hiscox USA's K&R insurance policy includes exclusive access to Control Risks, an independent specialist risk consultancy. The company has worked on more than 1,500 cases of kidnap, extortion, and other crises since its founding in 1975.
"In Control Risks, we are providing brokers and their client's exclusive access to the leader in this industry," Zanotelli noted. "You need to have the utmost confidence in the people you will be relying on to navigate you through a crisis." |
