Jackson National Life Introduces Free Policy Preserver Rider

Jackson National Life Insurance Company is throwing baby boomers a life preserver, of sorts.

The company has introduced the Jackson Policy PreserverSM, a rider designed to help clients prevent a policy from lapsing if the policy's loan value exceeds the accumulated cash value.

Policy Preserver is available at no cost with one of Jackson's universal life products and three of the company's variable universal life insurance products: Jackson Accumulator ULSM, Perspective Investor VUL®, Ultimate Investor® VUL, and JNL Advisor VUL®.

For newly-issued, qualifying policies, Jackson will automatically attach Policy Preserver to the base policy free of charge. The company will also attach the rider to existing, in-force policies.

Ray Trueblood, vice president, life marketing strategy, with Jackson National Life Distributors LLC, said a number of factors led to the creation of Policy Preserver, including declining Social Security benefits and the disappearance of traditional pension plans. Those things have forced boomers to become more self-reliant in funding their retirement income streams-a scenario that sometimes leads to lapsing policies.

"Jackson's UL and VUL products are designed with the flexibility to help boomers focus on generating cash values for asset accumulation purposes and obtain the protection that only life insurance can provide," he said.
