Ascension Insurance, Inc., a national insurance and employee benefits agency, has purchased Employers Mutual, Inc. (EMI), based in Stuart, Florida.

EMI, founded by CEO William McCreary, specializes in self-funded workers compensation, property, and liability, and provides brokerage services in the areas of P&C and employee benefits in Florida.

“We are very excited to welcome EMI and William McCreary to the Ascension family,” said Leonard P. Kline Jr., president and CEO of Ascension.

Kline noted that, under McCreary’s leadership, EMI has earned a solid reputation in the field of third-party claims and administration, along with traditional insurance placements.

As for EMI, its CEO views joining the Ascension team as a way to get into markets outside of Florida.

“Ascension offers us expanded resources and expertise to reach new markets and grow our operations while retaining our commitment to outstanding client service,” McCreary said.

With its private equity partners, Parthenon Capital and Century Capital Management, Ascension, based in Kansas City, Missouri, expects to grow to $200 million in revenue over the next five years.
