Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois employees, responding to public requests from the Central Illinois Foodbank for additional donations during the summer months, have raised nearly 3,900 food and beverage items during a recent food drive to help feed those in need. The Central Illinois Foodbank will pick up the donated items this Wednesday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m., at a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois office located at 3405 Liberty Drive in Springfield. |

AFLAC is one of 13 finalists for the 2003 Better Business Bureau International Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics competition. The BBB Torch Award illuminates the long-term value of honest and honorable business practices. The award became international in scope in 2002 when businesses located in communities served by the BBB in Canada and Mexico became eligible to enter. The winner from each of four categories will be announced on September 29.

This simple adage is the sublime wisdom behind a major effort — WalkingWorks — now underway by many Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans across the nation to inspire Americans to get moving and make other healthy lifestyle choices, little by little. Many of the 42 Blue Cross Blue Shield plans across the United States have adopted the WalkingWorks program to encourage walking as part of everyday routines. Blue plans are individually tailoring walking programs to their local markets. |

The National Organization of African Americans in Housing (NOAAH) and Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation (MGIC) announced on July 29 a partnership designed to promote the expansion and quality of pre-purchase homeownership education and counseling, and to explore other best practices to expand homeownership opportunities for all minorities, especially African Americans. MGIC, the nation's largest provider of private mortgage insurance (Private MI), is a NOAAH member and a charter member of NOAAH's Homeownership Task Force.

Mutual of Omaha today announced it will become an official sponsor of three up-and-coming professional golfers: Matt Gogel of the PGA Tour; Cristie Kerr of the LPGA Tour; and Joe Ogilvie of the Nationwide Tour. Mutual of Omaha's commitment to these three golfers is the newest addition to the Company's sponsorship program — expanding on the successes of its USA Swimming sponsorship and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom return to television on Animal Planet. This effort is part of a brand revitalization campaign to reinvigorate the Company's image among its millions of loyal customers while introducing Mutual of Omaha to a new generation of American families.
