Conseco, Inc., failed the test of prompt claims payment, and for that the insurer will pay.
Working through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), insurance regulators from 39 states reached a regulatory settlement agreement between their states, the District of Columbia, and Conseco, Inc., that culminated an investigation caused by a pattern of consumer harm in the company’s long-term care insurance business. |

Two life insurance companies didn’t play by the rules when soliciting business from U.S. military personnel, and Florida’s Office of Insurance Regulation is taking action against them.
The office has issued an Order to Show Cause to American Fidelity Life Insurance Co. of Pensacola, Florida, and Trans World Assurance Co. of San Mateo, California. It requires the companies to show cause why the office should not enter a final order suspending or revoking their Certificates of Authority |

The neediest Medicare beneficiaries can’t live without Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans (SNP). That’s the message America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) delivered recently in a Capital Hill briefing. AHIP is urging Congress to extend the SNP program beyond 2009 and remove the current moratorium on new SNPs and service areas. If Congress does these things, beneficiaries with special needs will continue to have access to plans that are tailored to meet their specific issues. |
