As summer’s storm season marches on, Minnesotans continue to deal with the damage that goes along with severe weather. The Insurance Federation of Minnesota is urging homeowners to take caution regarding tree removal services. A number of homeowners have recently fallen victim to greedy tree removal contractors who are sometimes triple charging to remove trees from a homeowner's dwelling or covered structure. The state does not regulate this type of service, so it's up to the homeowner to act cautiously. |

Calling it "the right tool to help small businesses keep their workers insured," House Majority Whip Roy Blunt on June 19 voted in favor of giving small businesses collective purchasing power for health insurance. The Small Business Health Fairness Act (H.R. 660), which passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 262-161, creates association health plans, which allow small businesses to band together and purchase quality health care for workers and their families at a lower cost. |

The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents last week commended the National Association of Insurance Commissioners on their decision to file a brief supporting PIA's petition to the United States Supreme Court asking for a hearing on lower court rulings in lawsuits against the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. "We welcome the assistance of the NAIC in our action to bring a halt to the OCC's overreaching," said Carl Stoecklin, national president of PIA. |
